July August

At Shimla, monsoons are active between end June to Mid August. Monsoons are a great time to enjoy mist, fog and to catch the clouds floating in the valley. To enjoy the greenery, take the mountain rail from Kalka to Shimla. Do not pack your itinerary with many tourist spots as travelling around in the rains can be uncomfortable.
Stay: Opt for hotels with easy access to Mall Road and the Ridge so that you can avoid walking in the rains.
Clothing: Arm yourself with raincoats.

September October November

Shimla Weather is very pleasant and inviting between September to November. Greenery and thick vegetation drapes the entire valley. Snowfall is rare and do not expect to indugle in snow play
Stay:Stay at an apple orchard amidst apple trees in full bloom.
Clothing: Night can be chilly, warm wollens are required

December January February

December to mid February is peak winter at Shimla with temperature ranging from zero to 20 C with snowfall likely around mid January to end February.
Snow Snow is a favourite with tourists and there is a strong possibility of encountering snow at Shimla city itself. Narkanda and Kurfi (at 60km and 25 km from Shimla respectively) are good for snow play.
In winters, HPTDC conducts snow skiing lessons at Narkanda.
Stay: Stay at hotels with good room heaters
Clothing: Arm yourself with heavy woollens and thermals.

March April May June

In summers, Weather is extremely pleasant at Shimla. Days are warm and nights are relatively cold. Peak tourist season starts from April and expect to experience a crowded and somewhat touristy Shimla.
SnowTo indulge in snow activities, combine Shimla with a visit to Manali as it unlikely that you will find opportnities for snow play at Shimla.
Stay: Book your rooms in advance as good hotels (especially hotels on Mall Road) are in great demand owing to the summer holidays.
Clothing: Light woolens are adequate
