Tip
1. You can book HRTC buses online. For e-tickets, there is a charge a 2.5 percent. If you have booked online, You have to carry the ID Proof while travelling using an E-Ticket otherwise you may be asked to purchase a new ticket.
2. Buses reach Manali before hotel check-in time. Inform your Manali Star Hotel on your travel plan in advance so that you need not wait for your room to get ready.
3. If you are travelling to Manali from Delhi, you can board the Shatabdi to Chandigarh and then board the bus to Manali from Chandigarh. You would then avoid monotonous 16 hour journey from Delhi to Manali. The only hitch is that Tata AC buses from Chandigarh are not as comfortable as the Volvo buses.
4. While, there are plenty of private buses from Chandigarh to Manali, your first preference has to be the Government operated HRTC as they are more comfortable.
