About 32 lakh tourists visited Manali in 2012 and the number is expected to cross 35-lakh mark this year. Over 800 hotels, resorts, guest houses and homestay units that dot Manali have have been flooded with thousands of booking enquiries for the summer. As per reports, 50% of available rooms have already been reserved for the months of May and June while remaining rooms are likely to be booked soon. Though the tourist rush is welcome, the infrastructure is inadequate to meet the rise in tourist inflow. For instance, NH-21 (Chandigarh-Manali national highway) between Bilaspur and Swarghat, and between Kullu and Manali has deteriorated. There are no flights operating to any airport in Himachal Pradesh
